LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating John Nydegger upon the occasion of
celebrating his 100th Birthday
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate and
recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great Nation
and the Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, this Legislative Body is justly
proud to congratulate John Nydegger of Wellsville, New York upon the
occasion of his 100th Birthday; and
WHEREAS, John Nydegger was born on February 15, 1914, in Wellsville,
New York, to Ernest and Susie Nydegger; he attended grade school at
Wellsville Central School in Wellsville, New York; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduation from high school, he honorably served his
country in the Navy during World War II; after the war he worked at
various jobs throughout his career, including Ludden's Shoe store,
Scoville Brown's grocery and retail store, and then for the First Trust
Union Bank located in Wellsville, New York; he retired as the
Secretary/Treasurer of First Trust Union Bank when he turned 65; and
WHEREAS, John Nydegger was devoted to his family first and foremost;
he was married to the love of his life, Virginia "Ginny" Nydegger, for
61 years until her death in 2002; they enjoyed playing bridge, garden-
ing, and square dancing with the Grand Squares of Wellsville; and
WHEREAS, John and Ginny Nydegger raised four wonderful children: John,
Suzanne, Richard, and Mary; today, John is the grandfather of nine
grandchildren: John, Kenneth, Carol, Elizabeth, Becky, Vickie, Matthew,
Kristen, and Brian; in addition, he is the great-grandfather of 12
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, John Nydegger enjoys fishing, woodworking, and singing; he
has sung with an all men's glee club in Wellsville, New York, and also
used his woodworking expertise to craft many items for his daughter
Sue's 2nd grade classroom; and
WHEREAS, This beloved man has enriched the lives of those around him
with his smile and jubilance, and through the charm and wisdom he has
which come from the fullness of years; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly recog-
nize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a remark-
able age and who have witnessed and celebrated the innovations, cultural
developments, and awesome achievements of this country during the last
century; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate John Nydegger upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Nydegger.
