LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Emma Ford upon the occasion of being
named a 2013 United States Lacrosse All-American

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize young
individuals within our midst who strive for athletic and academic excel-
lence through rigorous training and mental and physical discipline; and
WHEREAS, Athletic training and competition enhances the moral and
physical development of the young people of the State of New York and
prepares them for a productive future by instilling in them the value of
hard work, healthy living and sportsmanship; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor and
recognize Emma Ford upon the occasion being named a 2013 United States
Lacrosse All-American; and
WHEREAS, During the 2013 season, Emma Ford, who was then a senior at
Skaneateles High School and the captain of the Skaneateles Girls Varsity
Lacrosse Team, led the Lakers to a Section III, Class C championship
title win with a 12-7 victory over Marcellus High School; and
WHEREAS, Athletically and academically, Emma Ford has proven to be an
outstanding player and individual, a terrific combination of talent, and
a role model in her community and, she has brought pride to her family,
school district, and community; and
WHEREAS, Upon graduating from Skaneateles High School on June 24,
2013, Emma Ford entered Harvard University, where she now plays
lacrosse; Harvard is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Division I, Ivy League School; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor and recognize Emma Ford for her skills and dedication, which have
contributed to making her an outstanding 2013 United States Lacrosse
All-American; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emma Ford.
