LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr.
upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of the Service
Above Self Award by the Rotary Club of Huntington

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr. have given not only of
their time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Bontem-
pi and James Kelly, Jr. upon the occasion of their designation as recip-
ients of the Service Above Self Award by the Rotary Club of Huntington,
to be celebrated at their 10th Annual Steak and Beer Tasting Dinner on
Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Northport Yacht Club; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious award was established to honor those individ-
uals who encourage and foster the ideal of service above self; and
WHEREAS, Robert Bontempi, immediate past Chairman of the Huntington
Chamber of Commerce, and James Kelly, Jr., who currently holds the posi-
tion of Chairman, serve their community with dignity, strength and lead-
ership; and
WHEREAS, The Rotary Club of Huntington and The Chamber of Commerce
work with the non-profit community in support of local business, educa-
tion, health, wellness and prosperity; and
WHEREAS, Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr. have been called upon to
contribute their time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr.
have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr.
have displayed throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr. upon the occasion of their
designation as recipients of the Service Above Self Award by the Rotary
Club of Huntington; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Bontempi and James Kelly, Jr.
