LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Emma Lee Collins upon the occasion
of receiving the distinguished Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest
honor achieved by a Girl Scout Cadette
WHEREAS, Emma Lee Collins, through her diligence and rigorous efforts,
will be honored with the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette Scouting's
highest award and Girl Scouting's second highest achievement, to be
celebrated at a Young Women of Distinction event, hosted by Girl Scouts
of NYPENN Pathways, Inc. in May of 2014; and
WHEREAS, Emma Lee Collins is a member of Troop 40913; Emma, along with
three fellow Scouts, earned the Silver Award by spending a minimum of 50
hours on a sustainable project which will impact the community for many
years; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people the
goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of work-
ing with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride, and
encouraging community service and success; and
WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and
WHEREAS, Emma Lee Collins has completed many activities in addition to
the notable Silver Award community service project which she successful-
ly planned, developed and executed; and
WHEREAS, Emma Lee Collins' project called Koala Tree Run, benefitted
Carder Koala Run Playground; Emma and her troop researched trees and
bushes to plant at the playground; the trees had to fit certain safety
points and be able to thrive in their location; and
WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Emma Lee Collins' high character and commitment,
and is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York
State and our Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Emma Lee Collins upon the occasion of receiving the distin-
guished Girl Scout Silver Award, recognizing her achievement in earning
this illustrious honor and wishing her success, health and happiness;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Emma Lee Collins.
