LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Elizabeth Meyers upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Outstanding 4-H Member Award by the
Columbia County Agricultural Society and the 4-H Club

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to act, in accordance
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Elizabeth Meyers upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Outstanding 4-H Member Award by the Columbia County Agricultural
Society and the 4-H Club; and
WHEREAS, The 4-H Club is the nation's largest youth development and
empowerment organization, reaching more than seven million young people
in urban neighborhoods, suburban schoolyards and rural farming communi-
ties; fueled by a university-backed curriculum, 4-H'ers engage in hands-
on learning activities in the areas of science, healthy living, and food
security; and
WHEREAS, The New York State 4-H seeks to foster the development of
leadership ability, life skills, and good citizenship in its young men
and women; it is the only youth development program directly connected
to technological advances and the latest research at Cornell University;
and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Meyers, the daughter of Bruce and Sarah Meyers, has
been a member of several 4-H Clubs over the past 12 years and has been
awarded for her outstanding community service activities, leadership
abilities, and completion of all 4-H project goals; and
WHEREAS, This exceptional young woman has served as a 4-H Teen Ambas-
sador and has enjoyed learning in numerous projects; she has spent six
years as a Choose Health Action Teen, preparing lessons and giving talks
on food and nutrition in schools, summer camps and community events; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Meyers successfully built a Milk Bar for her 4-H
construction project; she was highly involved in painting, hauling,
training, and working with others to ensure its completion; and
WHEREAS, She actively enjoys community service, participating in recy-
cling events, 4-H Capital Days and serving ably as News Election Service
reporter for many years; and
WHEREAS, Elizabeth Meyers is a credit to her family, school, communi-
ty, and her State and Nation, and it is certain that her future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Elizabeth Meyers upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Outstanding 4-H Member Award by the Columbia County Agricultural
Society and the 4-H Club; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Elizabeth Meyers.
