LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 29th Anniversary of the Carib-
bean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary organizations it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 29th Anniversary of the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, In August of 2014, the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce
and Industry, Inc. will celebrate this fine event in Brooklyn, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Founded in August 1985, the Caribbean American Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, Inc., (CACCI) is a statewide membership organiza-
tion which has developed expertise in providing business assistance to
small and start-up business owners in areas of business planning,
financing, procurement, certification, expansion, and export/import
opportunities; CACCI has an extensive track record of service delivery,
and has established partnerships with government and private business
entities; and
WHEREAS, CACCI has conducted over 600 business development networking
seminars and meetings, attracting entrepreneurs and speakers from the
public and private sectors, business and community leaders, corporate
partners, CACCI members, Heads of State from the Caribbean along with
other international leaders; and
WHEREAS, CACCI has made considerable progress in the development of
the first ever Caribbean American Chamber Trade Center/Business Incuba-
tor in New York State to be located in one of the busiest commercial
corridors in Central Brooklyn, New York City; and
WHEREAS, Roy A. Hastick, Sr. is President/CEO/Founder of the CACCI, an
international economic development organization with a membership of
over 1500 in the United States and in the Caribbean; Mr. Hastick serves
on numerous boards, including Chase Manhattan Bank's Community Develop-
ment Board, Tropical Television Network (TTN), NYC Mayor's Small Busi-
ness Advisory Board, Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn
College, and the Medgar Evers College's Caribbean Research Center; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Hastick serves on The Brooklyn Navy Yard
Economic Development Corporation; he is a tireless advocate for economic
and community empowerment, and has been involved in promoting racial
harmony in Brooklyn's Crown Heights community where he serves as First
Vice Chairman of Community Board No. 9; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Hastick has been a recipient of numerous awards, includ-
ing the United States Department of Commerce National Award for Small
Business Advocacy, and the New York State and New York City Minority
Business Advocate of the Year Awards; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 29th Anniversary of the Caribbean American Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, Inc.; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Roy A. Hastick, Sr., President/CEO/Founder of CACCI.
