LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the Fifth Anniversary of the NEW
YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS, to be celebrated on Thursday, March 20,
2014

WHEREAS, Religious organizations, and the many spiritual, social and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in commemorating the
Fifth Anniversary of the NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS, to be cele-
brated on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at the Bayside Presbyterian Church
in Bayside, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established in 2007, the NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS'
mission is to provide news about events affecting Korean-American socie-
ty and stories featuring Korean American Christians; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed newspaper services over 1,000 Korean American
churches and their more than 200,000 parishioners in the New York-New
Jersey area;
WHEREAS, Genuinely concerned for the welfare of others, the NEW YORK
KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS has assumed an active role in the community as
well; they have established college scholarships for young people look-
ing to further their education; its members have also organized food
drives, and have provided traditional Korean meals during the Lunar New
Year holiday; and
WHEREAS, The NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS is an important spiritu-
al resource for members of the Korean-American Christian community; they
also provide much needed, up to date information on local politics and
events to church members; and
WHEREAS, In so effectively carrying out its mission during its five
years of distinguished service, the NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS
under the luminous direction of President, Reverend Byong-man Woo, has
demonstrated its value and commitment to its readers; and
WHEREAS, The NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY NEWS stands on the threshold
of tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the Fifth Anniversary of the NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH DAILY
NEWS, to be celebrated on Thursday, March 20, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Byong-man Woo, President, the NEW YORK KOREA CHURCH
DAILY NEWS.
