LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Kelly VanDyke upon the occasion of
being named EMS Person of the Year by the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those individ-
uals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Kelly VanDyke upon the occasion of being named EMS Person of the Year by
the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, to be celebrated on March 3, 2014, at the
Community Awards held at the Nathaniel Adams American Legion Post 1040,
Delmar, New York; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer ambulance corps members are an important part of
the safety net of America's healthcare system; they provide lifesaving
care to those in need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and
WHEREAS, Access to quality emergency care dramatically improves the
survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or
injury; and
WHEREAS, Since joining the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS three years ago, Kelly
VanDyke has had an outstanding impact on the success and values of this
esteemed organization; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has dedicated hundreds of hours to
being on call for her ambulance squad; in 2013, she has selflessly
responded to close to 100 emergency calls, and has rarely missed a
training session or meeting; and
WHEREAS, As well as an Emergency Medical Technician, Kelly VanDyke is
a Registered Nurse and serves as the Health and Safety Officer at
Delmar-Bethlehem EMS; she has been pivotal in leading the drive for
following best practices in patient and responder safety; and
WHEREAS, Kelly VanDyke is known within her community for her excel-
lence and professionalism, as well as always going the extra mile in the
performance of her duties; her hard work embodies the dedication,
compassion, and respect emergency responders possess in great measure;
and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of her duties and volunteer
efforts, Kelly VanDyke's ongoing endeavors and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in her commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kelly VanDyke upon the occasion of being named EMS Person of the
Year by the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kelly VanDyke.
