LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr.
upon the occasion of his 30th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recogni-
tion and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Reverend Dr.
Curtis T. Harding, Jr. upon the occasion of his 30th Pastoral Anniver-
sary, to be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Antun's Catering
Hall in Queens Village, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr. was raised in Brooklyn,
New York, where he attended public schools; after completing high
school, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force
for two years and received an honorable discharge; he continued to dili-
gently serve his community as a New York City Police Officer for 20
years; and
WHEREAS, When he was a young man, Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr.
answered the call for public ministry, receiving his Bachelor of Arts
degree from John Jay College and his Master of Divinity degree from New
York Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, In 1984, this esteemed Reverend became Pastor of St. Albans
Baptist Church in St. Albans, New York; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr. was
governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of
human problems; his congregation has grown substantially and many new
ministries have been established for people of all age groups; and
WHEREAS, This remarkable man of God has done a superb job in providing
leadership, motivation, and spiritual guidance to the community of St.
Albans Baptist Church; thanks to his fundraising efforts, the church was
able to complete the construction of a new edifice in 1987; upon the
opening, the congregation marched in to the hymn "To God be the glory";
and
WHEREAS, Under his leadership, the St. Albans Baptist Church is
actively involved in a number of charitable programs, including a food
pantry which reaches over 300 people, as well as a soup kitchen; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr. has received numerous
awards from city and state officials; he holds a certificate from the
Billy Graham School of Evangelism and has been awarded two Doctor of
Divinity degrees in 1996 and 1998; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr. is a past president of
the Baptist Ministers Conference of Queens and Vicinity; he is also a
member of the South East Queens Clergy, The Queens Federation of Church-
es, the Empire Baptist, and the National Baptist USA Inc.; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Reverend Inez L.
Harding, and their two children, as well as their two grandchildren, all
of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr. upon the occasion of his
30th Pastoral Anniversary noting his unremitting and compassionate faith
and his exemplary service to God, man, and his community, and extending

to him the heartfelt best wishes of this Legislative Body for a future
of purposeful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Dr. Curtis T. Harding, Jr.
