LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 160th Anniversary of La Salle
School, on March 3, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those organizations of true purpose and worthy accomplish-
ment, whose endeavors have had a significant impact on the lives of
others and the community they serve; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 160th Anniversary of La Salle School in Albany, New York, to
be celebrated on Monday, March 3, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1854 by the De La Salle Christian Brothers to
serve abandoned and orphaned boys, La Salle School is a multifaceted
human services agency; and
WHEREAS, Over the past 160 years, inspired by the faith and vision of
Saint John Baptist De La Salle, La Salle School has provided therapeu-
tic, educational, and supportive services designed to accomplish posi-
tive personal growth and lasting change in the lives of youth and fami-
lies in need; and
WHEREAS, At La Salle School, a talented and dedicated staff of more
than 200 work with a daily enrollment of 230 adolescent boys and their
families in Residential Treatment, Day Services Education, Family Pres-
ervation, The After School Center, and related programming; and
WHEREAS, Although La Salle School's main campus is located in the Pine
Hills section of Albany, its program extends well beyond the residential
campus, with nearly two-thirds of the youth in its care living in their
own communities and homes; and
WHEREAS, For more than a century and a half, the exemplary staff at La
Salle School has looked into the eyes of children to assure them that
they will be cared for and their needs met, regardless of the circum-
stances that brought them to the school; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those organiza-
tions that enhance the well-being and vitality of their community, and
have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have
earned the recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 160th Anniversary of La Salle School; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to La Salle School.
