LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Hillside North Neighborhood Asso-
ciation upon the occasion of paying tribute to this year's honorees at
its Veteran's Appreciation Dinner, on March 3, 2014

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to honor those who
have served in times of active conflict, as well as those who have
served in times of peace; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Hillside
North Neighborhood Association upon the occasion of paying tribute to
this year's honorees at its Veteran's Appreciation Dinner, to be held on
Monday, March 3, 2014; and
WHEREAS, James Mayben, Rick Branch, Mack Henderson, John Mayben, Robin
Richards, Ramel Edge, Mark Maloy and Gino Soule served their country as
part of the United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, William Branch, Mike Felix, Alfonzo Hicks, Johnny Pompey,
James Clifford, Christine Dickson, and Bob Vansteensburg served in the
United States Army; and
WHEREAS, Kim Brown, Tony Frazier, and Larry Gamble served their coun-
try as part of the United States Air Force; and
WHEREAS, Fred Zornow served in the United States Navy; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their
lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing
in action; and
WHEREAS, In recognizing these distinguished veterans at its Veteran's
Appreciation Dinner, the Hillside North Neighborhood Association
reflects the gratitude of all New Yorkers for their patriotism and
sacrifice; and
WHEREAS, The Hillside North Neighborhood Association Veteran's Appre-
ciation Dinner is also the kickoff for the Vets, Kids and Seniors
Project, which will pair veterans with children in community to meet for
five Saturdays to share their skills and talents with each other; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for
their dedication to their communities, their State and their Nation;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Hillside North Neighborhood Association upon the occasion of
paying tribute to this year's honorees at its Veteran's Appreciation
Dinner; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Hillside North Neighborhood Association, and the afore-
mentioned honorees.
