LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Asian American Business Develop-
ment Center upon the occasion of hosting the Outstanding 50 Asian Ameri-
cans in Business Award Ceremony to be celebrated on Thursday, June 19,
2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the leaders
of commerce and industry who combine successful business endeavors with
service to the community and their cultural heritage; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Asian
American Business Development Center upon the occasion of hosting the
Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award Ceremony on Thursday,
June 19, 2014, at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, This annual event, now celebrating its 13th Anniversary, is
the only forum to highlight the achievements of Asian Americans across
the United States; the award recipients represent a microcosm of the
best of Asian American business owners, professionals and corporate
executives who are engaged in a wide range of business interests; and
WHEREAS, The awards are not only to honor the individuals, but to
encourage the development of talent and leadership among Asian American
corporate executives; and
WHEREAS, Business and civic leaders will gather to pay tribute to the
outstanding entrepreneurs and corporate executives in the Asian American
community from across the United States; and
WHEREAS, Established in New York City in 1994, the Asian American
Business Development Center promotes the greater recognition of Asian
American businesses to the general economy; it provides information and
technical assistance through consulting services, workshops, seminars,
and conferences; and
WHEREAS, This illustrious organization is actively involved in issues
and policies affecting Asian American business at the federal, state,
and local levels; it has formed partnerships with Hispanic and African
American business associations to form the New Majority Alliance; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Asian American Business Development Center
are committed to its mission of assisting Asian-owned businesses to
compete in the mainstream marketplace; they have acted as a bridge
between worlds, forging opportunities and encouraging investment between
China and New York State; and
WHEREAS, The Asian American Business Development Center may take just
pride in its accomplishments and may look forward to continued success
in service to the Asian American community; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Asian American Business Development Center upon the occasion
of hosting the Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award Ceremony
to be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John Wang, President, Asian American Business Development
Center.
