LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Warwick Valley High School
student-athlete Todd Uckermark upon the occasion of winning the 2014 New
York State Public High School Athletic Association State Championship
for the pole vault

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success, and developing a sense
of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the State of New York who, by
achieving outstanding success in athletic competition, have inspired and
brought pride to their school and community; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate Warwick
Valley High School student-athlete Todd Uckermark upon the occasion of
winning the 2014 New York State Public High School Athletic Association
State Championship for the pole vault on Saturday, March 1, 2014, at
Cornell University, Ithaca, New York; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Warwick Valley High School, Todd Uckermark
captured the 2014 NYSPHAA Winter Track and Field state title in the pole
vault with a distance of 16 feet; and
WHEREAS, Todd Uckermark has a tradition of success; he was the top
seed in this year's championship, having set the Section 9 record for
pole vault at 16 feet, 9 inches in December 2013; and
WHEREAS, In 2013 during his junior year, Todd Uckermark was the indoor
and outdoor track school record holder for the pole vault with jumps of
15 feet, 4 inches indoors, and 15 feet, 8 inches outdoors; that same
year, he was selected as Hispanic Games Athlete of the Week at the
Armory in New York City; and
WHEREAS, Todd Uckermark's overall record is outstanding; he was loyal-
ly and enthusiastically supported by family, fans, friends and the
community at large; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment, and Todd Uckermark has clearly made a contribution to
the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his school; now, there-
fore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Warwick Valley High School student-athlete Todd Uckermark
upon the occasion of winning the 2014 New York State Public High School
Athletic Association State Championship for the pole vault; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Todd Uckermark.
