LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Korean American Family Service
Center upon the occasion of hosting its 25th Annual Benefit Gala on May
16, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in keeping with its
time-honored traditions, to recognize and pay tribute to those organiza-
tions, which foster ethnic pride and enhance the profile of cultural
diversity which strengthens the fabric of the communities of New York
State; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
that the quality and character of life in the communities across New
York State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of
those organizations and individuals that are devoted to the welfare of
the community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late the Korean American Family Service Center upon the occasion of
hosting its 25th Annual Benefit Gala, to be celebrated on Friday, May
16, 2014 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square; and
WHEREAS, The theme of the Korean American Family Service Center's 2014
Benefit Gala is, From Hope to Reality, Building the Future, celebrating
the past 25 years and sharing the vision for the next 25; special trib-
ute will be given to this year's Vision in Action Awardee, Anne Delaney
of The New York Women's Foundation; and
WHEREAS, The Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC) has worked
tirelessly, for more than two decades, to promote healthy and respectful
relationships within families and among peers of all ages; and
WHEREAS, With a 24-hour hotline and crisis intervention, counseling
and support services for domestic violence, as well as an emergency
shelter, KAFSC provides advocacy and education through community-wide
workshops and public campaigns; and
WHEREAS, The Hodori After-School program, as well as YCPT, a youth
leadership program, are provided through the Korean American Family
Service Center by bilingual professionals, and are accessible to low-in-
come families; and
WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to the Korean American
Family Service Center and its 2014 Annual Benefit Gala honoree; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be recognized and applauded by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Korean American Family Service Center upon the occasion
of celebrating its 25th Annual Benefit Gala; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Korean American Family Service Center and Anne Delaney of
the New York Women's Foundation.
