LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Susan M. Johnson upon the occasion of
being named the first recipient of the Roswell P. Flower Memorial
Library's Distinguished Volunteer Service Award

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Susan Johnson
upon the occasion of being named the first recipient of the Roswell P.
Flower Memorial Library's Distinguished Volunteer Service Award; and
WHEREAS, Susan Johnson began volunteering at the Roswell P. Flower
Memorial Library in 1974 as a board of trustees member; and
WHEREAS, Building upon her experience as a board of trustees member,
Susan Johnson served as board president from 1983 through 1995, playing
the vital role of helping to raise money for the library through a vari-
ety of efforts, including the library's very popular annual book sale;
and
WHEREAS, Thus far, through her 35 years of volunteer service, Susan
Johnson helped to raise a significant amount to help support the library
and its programs; and
WHEREAS, A lifelong lover of libraries, Susan Johnson has given freely
of her time to support the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library, which is
one of the City of Watertown's greatest educational and entertainment
resources; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Susan Johnson upon the occasion of being named the first recipient
of the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library's Distinguished Volunteer
Service Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitable engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Susan M. Johnson.
