LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 26th Anniversary of the Career
Institute of Health & Technology

WHEREAS, The State of New York is renowned for its centuries-old tradi-
tion of excellence and diversity in education and for the place of para-
mount importance which education holds for the people of the State; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend institutions of commitment and high achievement, such as Career
Institute of Health & Technology, whose purpose and endeavor are dedi-
cated to the pursuit of excellence in education and service to communi-
ty; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 26th Anniversary of the Career Institute of Health & Technolo-
gy, to be celebrated in October 2014; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of its gratitude and as an expression of great
respect and high regard, this Legislative Body is proud to commemorate
this auspicious milestone in the history of the institution; and
WHEREAS, Career Institute of Health & Technology began in 1988 as
Computer Career Center in the Town of Hempstead, New York; the school
specialized in providing training services that would reach out to a
population at risk of life-long low opportunity, offering them careers
that would lead to skills needed by the local job market; and
WHEREAS, Because of the nature of this target group, the founders of
the school decided these people would benefit from credentials such as
networking certifications and school diplomas; however, the real need of
this group is for hands-on experience solving problems in work-like
settings; and
WHEREAS, As a result, Career Institute of Health & Technology devel-
oped the first and most authentic intensive hands-on approach to train-
ing; this type of training proved to be attractive not only to the
target groups but to students with college backgrounds in need of skills
training; about 20% of the current school population has previous
college experience; and
WHEREAS, Working at a 24-hour, seven day a week pace, the school
founders went into the streets and into the homes of dispossessed young
high school graduates, displaced homemakers, down-sized defense industry
workers, and unemployed workers with obsolete skills; this heterogeneous
population was brought into a modern classroom setting located in the
basement of a building in what was once a depressed area of Hempstead,
Long Island; and
WHEREAS, Part of Career Institute of Health & Technology's aim is to
create and maintain schools that a graduate can be proud to have
attended; the school is authorized to provide training to VESID and
veterans; and
WHEREAS, Accredited by ACICS, the Career Institute of Health & Tech-
nology has developed into a prototype for career education in the north-
east providing training in the Allied Health, Electrical Technology and
the Automotive Technology Field; the school is now a prestigious post
secondary school with campuses located in Garden City, Brooklyn, and
Westbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Career Institute of Health & Technology is concerned
about developing the whole person and its faculty and staff are avail-
able to all students for academic advisement and individual attention;
and
WHEREAS, The Career Institute of Health & Technology stands prepared
to reach out in earnest and enthusiastic quest of its mission, proudly

aware of its history and planning with vision and purpose to meet the
challenges of the future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That it is with immense pride that this Legislative Body
pauses in its deliberations to commemorate the 26th Anniversary of the
Career Institute of Health & Technology, fully confident that its future
will be as distinguished as its past; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Career Institute of Health & Technology.
