LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring The Reverend Michael P. McLoughlin upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Caritas Award by
Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, The Reverend Michael P. McLoughlin has given not only of his
time and energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leader-
ship and consequently has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor The Reverend
Michael P. McLoughlin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of a Caritas Award by Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange
County; he will receive this esteemed award at the 8th Annual Cele-
bration of Charity dinner on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Anthony's Pier
9, New Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, Father Michael P. McLoughlin, pastor of St. Stephen the First
Martyr Parish in Warwick, New York, is being commended for his outstand-
ing commitment to the work of Catholic Charities; and
WHEREAS, Father Michael P. McLoughlin was born in Mount Kisco, New
York, to Michael and Mary McLoughlin; he was raised in Chappaqua, New
York, and, considering a vocation to the priesthood after graduation
from John F. Kennedy Catholic High School, he attended Cathedral College
of the Immaculate Conception in Queens and St. Joseph's Seminary in
Yonkers, New York; and
WHEREAS, Father Michael P. McLoughlin was ordained a priest in 1981 by
Terence Cardinal Cooke, and has always given enlightenment, guidance and
wisdom to the many entrusted to his care; he served as Parochial Vicar
at St. Rita's in Staten Island from 1981 to 1985, St. Peter's in Rosen-
dale from 1985 to 1990, and St. John the Baptist in Yonkers from 1990 to
1996; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, this distinguished man of God moved to Orange County
and became pastor of Sacred Heart in Highland Falls, a position he held
until 2002 when he became Pastor of St. Stephen's; he is now in his
twelfth and final year with the parish; and
WHEREAS, During his eighteen years in Orange County, Father Michael P.
McLoughlin has been actively involved in the good work of Catholic Char-
ities; he is a founding member of the Board of Directors of Catholic
Charities Community Services of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Father Michael P. McLoughlin has
displayed throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Reverend Michael P. McLoughlin upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of a Caritas Award by Catholic Charities Community
Services of Orange County; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Reverend Michael P. McLoughlin.
