LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Chief Joseph Fox upon the occasion of
his designation as Grand Marshal of the Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's
Day Parade on March 23, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those distinguished citizens of the State of New York who
devote their lifework and civic endeavor in service to their community,
adding to the character and quality of life for all citizens; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Chief Joseph Fox upon the occasion of his designation as Grand Marshal
of the Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 23,
2014; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Fox holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Security
Management from John Jay College, and is a 1995 graduate of the Police
Management Institute at Columbia University; he joined the New York City
Police Department in July of 1981 where he began his career on patrol in
the 70th precinct; and
WHEREAS, In October of 1984, Joseph Fox was promoted to Sergeant; he
continued to climb the ranks throughout his illustrious career, and in
August of 2011 he was once again promoted, to Chief of Transit Bureau;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, Chief Joseph Fox served in the 61st,
62nd, 70th and 90th Precincts, as well as the Inspections Division,
Internal Affairs Bureau, Office of the Deputy Commissioner Training, the
Warrants Division, and Patrol Borough Brooklyn North Strategic and
Tactical Command (S.A.T. COM); and
WHEREAS, Currently the Commanding Officer of the Transit Bureau, Chief
Joseph Fox has previously commanded Patrol Borough Brooklyn South,
Patrol Borough Queens South, the Office of the Chief of Internal Affairs
Bureau, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner Training, and the 71st
Precinct; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Chief Joseph Fox has also served as Executive
Officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn North S.A.T. COM and the 71st
Precinct; and
WHEREAS, Chief Joseph Fox is a fitting choice for Grand Marshal of the
Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade, for he embodies the spirit and the
cherished ideals and values of this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, St. Patrick's Day is a time for people of all nationalities
and generations to assemble and celebrate the rich culture and heritage
of the Irish people throughout these United States; and
WHEREAS, A St. Patrick's Day Parade reflects and records the ongoing
history of the United States and Ireland, and highlights the many
contributions and historical accomplishments of the Irish community in
this diverse land; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief Joseph Fox upon the occasion of his designation as Grand
Marshal of the Annual Bay Ridge St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 23,
2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chief Joseph Fox.
