LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Marie Bernard upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the Work of Salvation Minis-
tries, March 8, 2014
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marie Bernard has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Marie
Bernard upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the Work of Salvation Ministries, celebrated on Saturday, March 8, 2014,
at the Gateway World Christian Center, Valley Stream, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marie Bernard has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Born on March 8, 1944, in Port-De-Paix, Haiti, Dr. Marie
Bernard migrated to the United States in 1972; for the past 20 years,
she has worked in different ministerial and leadership capacities; and
WHEREAS, A resident in New York State for over 30 years Dr. Marie
Bernard has worked as a nurse, counselor, health educator teacher in the
classroom setting; after over 25 years of working as a nurse, counselor,
educator, with people of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds, guid-
ing and supporting them to cope with various family problems and life
challenges, her work took her all over the country and participated in
seminars in Albany, the Caribbean, and Canada; and
WHEREAS, In 1995, Dr. Marie Bernard established The Work of Salvation
Ministries in Queens Village, New York, and is dedicated to reaching and
changing lives within her community; she also provides leadership to the
ministry chaplaincy Christian board, and is actively involved with the
homeless food pantry outreach evangelism home prayer and street ministry
throughout the United States and foreign countries; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Marie Bernard has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dr. Marie Bernard has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Marie Bernard upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Work of Salvation Ministries, March 8, 2014; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Marie Bernard.
