LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Sister Paulette LoMonaco upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition in conjunction with
Women's History Month in the State of New York

WHEREAS, New York State is home to countless strong women whose notable
achievements have been vital to the fabric of our rich heritage and
advancement of our society; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge and
celebrate certain individuals who have added vitality, sensitivity,
understanding and inspiration to the diversity and values of the people
of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Sister (Sr.) Paulette LoMonaco upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition in conjunction with Women's History Month in the
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Sister Paulette LoMonaco has made a tremendous impact on the
lives of countless vulnerable New York City youth as the Executive
Director of Good Shepherd Services during her 32 year career; and
WHEREAS, Good Shepherd Services is a leading youth development, educa-
tion and family service agency that works with over 27,000 children and
their families annually; and
WHEREAS, Under Sister Paulette LoMonaco's dynamic leadership, this
non-profit organization has evolved from a small provider of out-of-home
care to one of New York's largest, most respected multi-service agen-
cies; throughout her tenure, Good Shepherd Services has addressed emerg-
ing needs by piloting innovative models to inform policy debates and
enhance outcomes for youth within the New York area and beyond; and
WHEREAS, Sister Paulette LoMonaco is a respected leader at the city
and state levels, known for her intelligence, integrity, unwavering
commitment and passionate advocacy for those in need; she is widely
recognized as the "go-to" person on youth-related issues; and
WHEREAS, A founding member of the Neighborhood Family Services Coali-
tion, this esteemed woman serves on numerous non-profit and government
advisory boards; she holds honorary doctorates from St. Francis College
and Fordham University, and is also the recipient of a Robin Hood Hero's
Award as well as a Lewis Hine Award; and
WHEREAS, New York State has been, and continues to be, the home to
many distinguished women who have made their mark on history; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those women who
enhance the wellbeing and vitality of their communities and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Sister Paulette LoMonaco upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition in conjunction with Women's History Month in the
State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sister Paulette LoMonaco.
