LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating the Mohawk Valley-New York State
Women's 3-on-3 Basketball Team upon the occasion of winning a Bronze
Medal at the National Senior Games in Cleveland, Ohio

WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice, team play and team spirit, nurtured by
dedicated coaching and strategic planning; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of people of all ages across this great State, encouraging a stand-
ard of healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a
sense of fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to congratulate the
Mohawk Valley-New York State Women's 3-on-3 Basketball Squad upon the
occasion of their winning a Bronze Medal at the National Senior Games in
Cleveland, Ohio, July 24-27, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Mohawk Valley-New York State Basketball Team consists of
five Central New York women with a shared love of basketball and compe-
tition; the team members include Meg Cullinan, Crystal Bass, Andrea
Dziekan, Linda Ptak and Karen Poole; and
WHEREAS, These remarkable athletes have won gold medals at the Empire
State Senior Games in three of the last four years; the 2012 victory
qualified the original three players, Meg Cullinan, Crystal Bass and
Linda Ptak for the National Senior Games 3-on-3 Tournament; and
WHEREAS, Competing against 18 other teams from all over the country in
the 50-54 age group, these Central New York women battled their way into
the semi-final round of the National Senior Games 3-on-3 Tournament; and
WHEREAS, The Mohawk Valley-New York State Team's overall tournament
record is outstanding, and the team members were loyally and enthusi-
astically supported by family, fans, friends and the community at large;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend individ-
uals of outstanding character, who have shown initiative and commitment
toward constantly pursuing higher goals for themselves, and acting as
role models of leadership to be emulated by both peers and young people;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate the Mohawk Valley-New York State Women's 3-on-3 Basketball
Team upon the occasion of winning a Bronze Medal at the National Senior
Games; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members of the Mohawk Valley-New York State Women's
3-on-3 Basketball Team.
