LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Weidrich upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of a Stakeholders Founders Award to be
celebrated at the Stakeholders' 2014 GOBY Awards Ceremony on April 23,
2014
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of certain
extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael Weid-
rich upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a Stakeholders
Founders Award to be celebrated at the Stakeholders' 2014 GOBY Awards
Ceremony on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the GE Theatre at Proctors,
Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, This illustrious award is bestowed upon board members and
staff of Stakeholders, Inc. who had an early and influential impact on
the formation and success of Stakeholders; and
WHEREAS, Michael Weidrich holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from
Syracuse University, a Master's in Business Administration from the
College of Saint Rose, Advanced Graduate Certificates in Instructional
Technology and Not-for-Profit Management from the College of Saint Rose,
and is currently pursuing a Certificate of Graduate Study in Public
Sector Management from Rockefeller College at the University of Albany;
and
WHEREAS, Dedicated to community service throughout the Capital Region
for more than a decade, Michael Weidrich is currently the Deputy Direc-
tor of the Pride Center of the Capital Region, having previously sat on
the Board of Directors and volunteered as Gallery Manager; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he previously served as the Director of Corpo-
rate Development at the Albany Institute of History & Art, and Executive
Director of the Lark Street Business Improvement District where he
produced the largest LARKfest in the event's 30 year history; and
WHEREAS, As a Board Member of the Upstate Artists Guild, Michael Weid-
rich founded 1st Friday of Albany, the monthly arts walk on Lark Street
and Downtown Albany, which he coordinated for more than seven years; and
WHEREAS, Michael Weidrich, a lifelong artist whose work has been shown
internationally, is a Board Member of The Stakeholders Inc. where he
founded the Arts Ambassadors Institute, a companion program of the Young
Philanthropists Institute; under his luminous direction, the programs
were merged into one Stakeholders Institute; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of the Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce's Lead-
ership Tech Valley Program, Michael Weidrich has been a member of the
LTV Steering Committee ever since; he is also the Communications Commit-
tee co-chair for the Chamber's Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council
and sits on the board of CARES Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Michael Weidrich has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades for his work in the community, some of which
include, the Business Review's 40 Under 40 Award, the Albany County
Convention & Visitors Bureau's Hospitality Excellent Award, the Capital
District Gay & Lesbian Community Council's Volunteer of the Year Award,
as well as being honored by the Lark Street Business Improvement
District; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michael Weidrich has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Weidrich upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Stakeholders Founders Award at the Stakeholders' 2014 GOBY Awards
Ceremony on April 23, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Weidrich.
