LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Laura Brothers upon the occasion of her
designation as 2014 Individual Philanthropist of the Year by the
Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York on April 4, 2014

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Laura Brothers
upon the occasion of her designation as 2014 individual Philanthropist
of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern New York at
its "Evening to End Alzheimer's" Gala on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the
Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Alzheimer's Association is the world's leading voluntary
health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research; and
WHEREAS, The mission of the Alzheimer's Association is to eliminate
Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research, provide and
enhance care and support for all affected, and reduce the risk of demen-
tia through the promotion of brain health; and
WHEREAS, Laura Brothers has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Laura Brothers was one of the founders of the Capital
Region's Blondes vs. Brunettes Powder Puff Football Team fundraiser for
the Alzheimer's Association; and
WHEREAS, In addition to playing as a member of the Brunette Powder
Football Team, Laura Brothers attends frequent meetings, plans monthly
fundraising events, and secures sponsors; over the past three years, she
has raised significant funds for the Alzheimer's Association; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Laura Brothers has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Laura Brothers has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Laura Brothers upon the occasion of her designation as 2014 Indi-
vidual Philanthropist of the Year by the Alzheimer's Association of
Northeastern New York on April 4, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Laura Brothers.
