LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Joseph Scorza upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of a William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance
Award by New York State Industries for the Disabled
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
just tribute to those citizens who embody the true American spirit,
demonstrating personal courage and determination; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joseph Scorza upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of a
William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award by New York State Indus-
tries for the Disabled; and
WHEREAS, The annual Joslin Awards Program of the New York State Indus-
tries for the Disabled (NYSID) respectfully acknowledges individuals in
New York communities who strengthen the Preferred Source Program through
jobs well done; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Scorza has worked on NYSID Preferred Source contracts
for more than 20 years, most of which time was spent at the workshop of
the Center for Disabilities Services in Albany, New York; throughout
that time, he was an exemplary worker and was described as a great
mentor with a bright personality and infectious sense of humor; and
WHEREAS, In March of 2012, Joseph Scorza, motivated by a desire to
increase his independence, began working for the Center's for-profit
mailing, Commercial Services; he brought numerous skills with him, and
has proved to be a model worker, punctual, dependable, and eager to
learn new tasks; and
WHEREAS, In the faithful performance of his duties and responsibil-
ities, Joseph Scorza's ongoing efforts and notable achievements have
significantly contributed to bettering the quality of life in his commu-
nity; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Scorza sets a great example for other workers at the
site, and is always willing to assist them when in need; over the past
year, he has been building his endurance, and is sought out by manage-
ment to complete large jobs with tight deadlines; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Scorza loves his job and takes great pride in his
abilities; his persistence and determination is a true inspiration, and
has earned him the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues;
and
WHEREAS, An avid Yankee fan, Joseph Scorza stays fit as a regular
member of Warriors on Wheels, a health and fitness program in Albany;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such enduring courage and accomplishment are brought to our
attention, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend those
individuals for the edification and emulation of others; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph Scorza upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
a William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Award by New York State
Industries for the Disabled; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Joseph Scorza.
