LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Cold
Spring Lions Club No. 8366 of Cold Spring, New York, to be celebrated
March 28, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 75th Anniversary of the Cold Spring Lions Club No. 8366, to be
celebrated at the Dutchess Manor in Beacon, New York, on Friday, March
28, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Cold Spring Lions Club No. 8366 was chartered on February
21, 1939, with 60 members; and
WHEREAS, Over its 75 year history, the Cold Spring Lions Club has
raised and donated a significant amount to many notable community
endeavors; and
WHEREAS, The Cold Spring Lions Club was a critical partner in the Cold
Spring Waterfront Project, a public-private partnership completed in
2012; and
WHEREAS, The Cold Spring Lions Club has initiated many important
community projects including Project Linus, which is dedicated to
providing love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who
are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gift of
new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer
"blanketeers"; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of President David Lilburne, the
Cold Spring Lions Club remains dedicated to making ongoing community
contributions to the Village of Cold Spring and the Town of Philipstown,
New York; and beyond; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions and individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought
to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the
citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Cold Spring Lions Club No.
8366, to be celebrated Friday, March 28, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolutions, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to David Lilburne, President, Cold Spring Lions Club.
