LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Depart-
ment upon the occasion of hosting its 102nd Installation Dinner and
paying special tribute to this year's honorees

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body has the deepest pride and admiration for
the fire departments of New York State which perform the crucial work of
fire protection and fire prevention; and
WHEREAS, Fire departments are an integral part of community protection
services in every locality of our State; during the past 102 years, the
courageous and devoted firefighters of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire
Department have valiantly responded to all types of fire emergencies and
have won the praise and respect of the community which they serve; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend the Manhas-
set-Lakeville Fire Department upon the occasion of hosting its 102nd
Installation Dinner and paying special tribute to this year's honorees;
this momentous occasion will be celebrated on Saturday, April 12, 2014,
at the Long Island Marriott Hotel in Uniondale, New York; and
WHEREAS, With a membership of dedicated firefighters, the record of
the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department in public service and fire
protection is one to be envied; for 24 hours a day, for 365 days a year,
for more than a century, whenever the alarm sounded, these noble volun-
teers left their homes and went to the aid of their neighbors; and
WHEREAS, The brave firefighters of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire
Department are prepared to risk their lives every day to help save the
lives of others and to protect homes and property from the destruction
caused by fire; and
WHEREAS, Outgoing Chief Christopher Pisani has been a member of
Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Company No. 2 since February 10,
1992; he moved up the ranks and was elected 4th Deputy on April 9, 2009,
and was sworn in as Chief of Department on April 4, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, during his time as a member, Chief Pisani has
participated and chaired many committees; he has been a Firefighter with
the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) since 2001 and is currently
serving as a Lieutenant in Queens; and
WHEREAS, Outgoing President Michael Fener has been a member of the
Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department Company No. 4 since January 7, 1992;
he served as Captain from 1999 to 2001, and moved up the ranks to Presi-
dent, the esteemed position he has served since 2012; and
WHEREAS, In addition to the skill and devoted service demonstrated by
individual firefighters, the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department
reflects the history and development of firefighting over the past 102
years; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body cannot express sufficient gratitude to
those devoted individuals who recognize that the preservation of life
and property is a sacred responsibility and who make that responsibility
their own by serving as firefighters; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that we should give
special recognition to those who work so assiduously for the betterment
of their communities, and acknowledge publicly the heroic good works
performed by the volunteer fire departments of this great Empire State,
their officers and auxiliaries; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
proudly commend the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department upon the occa-
sion of hosting its 102nd Installation Dinner and paying special tribute
to this year's honorees; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department and the aforemen-
tioned honorees.
