LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Peter Stoj upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Open Space Preservation Leadership Award
by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Peter Stoj has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Peter Stoj
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Open Space
Preservation Leadership Award by the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy, to
be celebrated at its Annual Spring Awards Meeting on Tuesday, April 1,
2014, at Treviso by Mallozzi's, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Peter Stoj has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, The Open Space Preservation Award recognizes contributions by
a Conservancy volunteer who has given outstanding time and energy to
advance the mission of the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy (MHLC); and
WHEREAS, Peter Stoj has devoted countless hours to the stewardship of
the Keleher Preseve on Wolf Hill in the Town of New Scotland; he builds
and maintains trails, helps coordinate volunteers and was instrumental
in the recent expansion of the preserve, making it MHLC's largest at
approximately 450 acres; and
WHEREAS, After 35 years of distinguished service as a New York State
Civil Servant, Peter Stoj retired from the esteemed position of Chief
Information Officer for Empire State Development and Director of IT for
the Department of Economic Development; and
WHEREAS, An avid skier and golfer, Peter Stoj is a life member of O.C.
Ski Club, committee person for the New York State Golf Association and
President of Western Turnpike Golf Course Men's Association; and
WHEREAS, Peter Stoj became of member of Mohawk Hudson Land Conservancy
in the mid-2000s to support the Indian Ladder Farm effort; he has been
an MHLC volunteer since March of 2012 with approximately 500 hours of
service to date; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife of 32 years whom feels
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his achievements;
and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Peter Stoj has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Peter Stoj has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Peter Stoj upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Open Space Preservation Leadership Award by the Mohawk Hudson Land
Conservancy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Peter Stoj.
