LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION recognizing March 2014 as the Order of DeMolay
Month in the State of New York
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed entities; and
WHEREAS, March 2014 has been declared The Order of DeMolay Month in
the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The National Order of DeMolay will celebrate its 95th Anni-
versary in 2014, and its 47th Anniversary in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay has chapters throughout the United
States and more than a dozen countries worldwide; and
WHEREAS, This international organization for men between the ages of
12 and 21 was founded in Kansas City, Missouri in 1919, by Frank Land
and nine other young men; Louis Lower, Ralph Sewell, Elmer Dorsey,
Edmund Marshall, Jerome Jacobson, William Steinhibler, Ivan Bentley,
Gorman McBride, and Clyde Stream; and
WHEREAS, The Order of DeMolay prepares young men to lead happy,
successful, and productive lives by developing civic awareness, personal
responsibility, and leadership skills; and
WHEREAS, The organization also builds important bonds of friendship
among its members locally and worldwide; and
WHEREAS, Distinguished DeMolay alumni include Walt Disney, John Wayne,
and Walter Cronkite; and
WHEREAS, The State of New York is pleased to recognize March 2014 as
The Order of DeMolay Month; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
recognize March 2014 as The Order of DeMolay Month in the State of New
York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to New York DeMolay.
