LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kristina M. LeGrand upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition after 26 years of distinguished
service to the FDNY African Heritage Society

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to call attention to
the dedicated efforts of those individuals from across the State of New
York who volunteer their time and energies in service to the community;
and
WHEREAS, Kristina M. LeGrand has given not only of her time and ener-
gies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and conse-
quently has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Kristina M. LeGrand upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition after 26 years of distinguished service to the FDNY African
Heritage Society; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism is an essential element of all societies; it
provides a way in which the human values of community, caring and serv-
ing can be sustained and strengthened; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who volunteer their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, Kristina M. LeGrand has been called upon to contribute her
time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has
always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Kristina M. LeGrand has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Kristina M. LeGrand has displayed
throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kristina M. LeGrand upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition after 26 years of distinguished service to the FDNY
African Heritage Society; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kristina M. LeGrand.
