LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Derida A. Deflorimonte upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by the Ambassador
for Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center
on Sunday, May 4, 2014

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Reverend Deri-
da A. Deflorimonte upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Ambassador for Christ International Outreach Ministry
and Gateway Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of
Distinction Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral
Terrace, Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Derida A. Deflorimonte is being recognized for her
exemplary work and commitment to her community, which serves to empower
others; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Derida A. Deflorimonte was born on February 8, 1957 in
Guyana; she migrated to the United States in 1967 and attended Brooklyn
High School; and
WHEREAS, Continuing her education, Pastor Derida A. Deflorimonte
earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the College of New
Rochelle and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Mental Health
Counseling from which she is expected to graduate in May of 2014; and
WHEREAS, Upon receiving her call to the ministry, Pastor Derida A.
Deflorimonte enrolled in the Community Bible Institute Seminary of
Brooklyn, New York; she is a Government Certified Marriage Officiate,
Certified Chaplain, Temperament Counselor, and a Professional Pastor
Clinical Member of the National Christian Counselors Association; she
has also served as a Counselor at the Old Westbury Juvenile Detention
Center; and
WHEREAS, Pastor Derida A. Deflorimonte is currently the pastor of
Tabernacle of Praise International Ministry in Springfield Gardens, New
York where she serves as Executive Secretary and on numerous church
committees; she is presiding prelate and overseer of the church Evangel-
ist Outreach Ministries and the International Fellowship Ministries; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Pastor Carl, their
four beautiful children, Lindera, Andrew, Derrick and Lindsey, as well
as three grandsons, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life
and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Derida A. Deflorimonte upon the occasion of her desig-
nation for special recognition by the Ambassador for Christ Interna-
tional Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May 4,
2014, noting her unremitting and compassionate faith and her exemplary
service to God, man, and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Deride A. Deflorimonte.
