LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Kreeger upon the occasion of his
induction into the Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the
Warwick Valley Central School District

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor those indi-
viduals whose exceptional athletic prowess leaves an enduring legacy in
their communities; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Michael Kreeger upon the occasion of his induction into the Warwick
Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley Central School
District; the Warwick Valley High School Boys Basketball Program held
their 5th Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday, January 17,
2014; and
WHEREAS, Michael Kreeger is a member of the Warwick Valley Boys
Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2014; this outstanding athlete's
efforts, commitment, and past accomplishments on the hardwood have
helped shape the history of the Wildcats, Warwick Valley Boys Basketball
Team; and
WHEREAS, A 1990 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, Michael Kreeg-
er was a two-year varsity starter from 1988 to 1990, playing under head
coach Tom Folino; and
WHEREAS, During the 1989-90 season, Michael Kreeger helped lead his
team to a Section IX play-off appearance, and was selected as Most Valu-
able Player; he also won the Most Valuable Player Award for the 1989
Warwick Tip-Off Tournament as he led his team to the tournament champi-
onship; and
WHEREAS, During his illustrious high school basketball career, Michael
Kreeger set and still holds two school records: most points scored in a
season with 387 points, and highest scoring average for a season as he
averaged 21.7 points per game; he finished his career with 501 points,
placing him 16th on the all-time scoring list; and
WHEREAS, His most well-known basketball moments were breaking the
school record for most points scored in a season during his final high
school game vs. Port Jervis High School, and a famous win over Pine Bush
High School as he and teammate Denis McLaughlin scored every Warwick
point except two; and
WHEREAS, Athletes like Michael Kreeger provide a tremendous service to
the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of student-
athletes in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Michael Kreeger has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Warwick Valley Central School District, as well as on the
community-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for
his impressive dedication to others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Kreeger upon the occasion of his induction into the
Warwick Valley Boys Basketball Hall of Fame by the Warwick Valley
Central School District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Kreeger.
