LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Robert Greenman upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Community Spirit Award by the Beth-
lehem Chamber of Commerce

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robert Greenman has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Robert
Greenman upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Commu-
nity Spirit Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce; he will be cele-
brated at the 29th Annual Chamber Dinner on Friday, April 11, 2014, at
the Cyprus Shrine Center, Glenmont, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert Greenman is a resident of Delmar, New York, and a
retired employee of New York Telephone/Verizon; and
WHEREAS, This selfless man is being recognized for his endless dedi-
cation to serving the residents of the Town of Bethlehem, New York in
whatever way he can; and
WHEREAS, Robert Greenman is actively involved in many organizations in
and around his community, including the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Beth-
lehem Senior Volunteer Program, and Good Samaritan Lutheran Home; and
WHEREAS, An exemplar of devoted civic engagement, Robert Greenman's
love for his fellow human beings and commitment to these local organiza-
tions is evident through the vast number of volunteer hours he invests:
nearly 6,000 hours for the Senior Transportation program; 800 hours as a
Smart Driving Instructor and 75 hours for the Community Christmas
Dinner; and
WHEREAS, The range of charitable causes that benefit from Robert
Greenman's involvement is breathtaking; he volunteers for organizations
such as Five Rivers Environmental Center, Junior Achievement, Boy
Scouts, Albany Society of Engineers, serves as a mentor to students at
Bethlehem Central Middle School, and works with programs such as the 55
Alive Safe Driving Program; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert Greenman has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert Greenman has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Robert Greenman upon the occasion of his designation as recipi-
ent of the Community Spirit Award by the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Greenman.
