LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring First Niagara Bank upon the occasion of
its designation as recipient of the 2014 Corporate Partner of the Year
Award by the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany

WHEREAS, Individuals and organizations devoted to improving the quality
of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity and self-
worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to this concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
First Niagara Bank upon the occasion of its designation as recipient of
the 2014 Corporate Partner of the Year Award by the Northeastern Associ-
ation of the Blind at Albany, to be celebrated at a ceremony on Satur-
day, April 12, 2014, at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom in Troy, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Since 1908, the Northeastern Association of the Blind at
Albany (NABA) has provided comprehensive services and programs to resi-
dents of the greater Capital Region who are blind or visually impaired;
they have helped individuals of all ages across 14 counties adapt to
vision loss, maximize remaining vision, achieve their goals, and expand
their independence; and
WHEREAS, First Niagara Bank is one of the leading financial insti-
tutions in the Capital District; its more than 50 branches and 600
employees in Eastern New York provide important banking services to
individuals, families and businesses; and
WHEREAS, Committed to giving back to the community, First Niagara Bank
exemplifies good corporate citizenship through its significant charita-
ble donations and sponsorships of various non-profit organizations; and
WHEREAS, This esteemed company actively participates in dozens of
community events annually throughout the Capital Region through its
Employee Volunteer Corp (EVC); and
WHEREAS, At the 2013 NABA charity golf outing, Fist Niagara Bank
provided a number of volunteer coaches for the nine-hole event; the
coaches contributed to a successful day out, and ably assisted the blind
golfers in positioning the ball on the tee, driving carts, providing
yardage, and much more; and
WHEREAS, The NABA is also paying tribute to First Niagara's Eastern
New York Regional Banking Director and Market Executive Nina Tyzik;
since May 2012, she has ably directed the company's Eastern New York and
Tri-State Regions and has been a large part of the company's charitable
efforts; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism promotes family and community solidarity; most
importantly, people who give of their time in civic and charitable
endeavors inspire others to the call of volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor First Niagara Bank upon the occasion of its designation as recipi-
ent of the 2014 Corporate Partner of the Year Award by the Northeastern
Association of the Blind at Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to First Niagara Bank, and Nina Tyzik, Regional Banking Director
and Market Executive.
