LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring George L. Infante posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest
honor bestowed upon an individual by the New York State Senate, and for
special recognition by Albany County at its Honor-A-Veteran Ceremony on
April 7, 2014

WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have served so valiantly and honorably in wars in which this country's
freedom was at stake, as well as in the preservation of peace in peace-
time, deserve a special salute; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
George L. Infante posthumously upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon an indi-
vidual by the New York State Senate, and for special recognition by
Albany County at its Honor-A-Veteran Ceremony on April 7, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Senate Liberty Medal was established by a
resolution in 2014 and is awarded to individuals who have merited
special commendation for exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts on
behalf of their fellow New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, In June of 1993, a committee was formed by the Albany County
Veterans Bureau known as the Albany County Honor-A-Veteran Committee;
the committee was formed to honor a deceased Albany County veteran, who
has served his country in time of conflict; the Honor-A-Veteran Program
takes place monthly on the first Monday of each month; and
WHEREAS, Born on March 22, 1919, in Brooklyn, New York, George L.
Infante served his country as a member of the United States Army during
World War II from August 8, 1941 until October 17, 1945, attaining the
rank of Corporal; and
WHEREAS, He received numerous awards and accolades for his distin-
guished military service, including: American Defense Ribbon, Pacific
Theater Ribbon, and a Good Conduct Medal; and
WHEREAS, After the war, George L. Infante was employed by the New York
State Police and the Albany County Sheriff's Department; he also served
as an Albany County Legislator; and
WHEREAS, George L. Infante was a member of several veteran organiza-
tions such as: Vietnam Veterans Memorial, past Albany County Commander
of the American Legion, Sheehy Palmer VFW Post 6776, and the Fort Orange
American Legion Post 30; furthermore, he was a former Chair of the
Veterans Care Board at the Stratton VA Medical Center where he was also
a volunteer; and
WHEREAS, Moreover, George L. Infante was a member of St. James Church,
the Advisory Board of Glenmont Job Corps., Albany County Forensic Task
Force, Emergency Management Public Safety Committee and Senior Citizen's
Advisory Board, TRIAD-NYS, Italian Community Center, Sons of Italy, Roma
Intangible Lodge No. 215, Urban League of NENY, and Albany Elks Lodge
No. 49, and many more; and
WHEREAS, George L. Infante died on January 2, 2012, in Albany, New
York, at the age of 92; and
WHEREAS, Individuals such as George L. Infante devoted to improving
the quality of life for others, enabling them to build lives of dignity
and self-worth are deserving of the highest praise and recognition; and
WHEREAS, Having exhibited his patriotism both at home and abroad,
George L. Infante demonstrated his love for his country and merits
forevermore, the highest respect of this State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Our Nation's veterans deserve to be recognized, commended and
thanked by the people of the State of New York for their service and for

their dedication to their communities, their State and their country;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor George L. Infante posthumously upon the occasion of his desig-
nation as recipient of a Liberty Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon
an individual by the New York State Senate, and for special recognition
by Albany County at its Honor-A-Veteran Ceremony on April 7, 2014; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of George L. Infante.
