LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Superintendent Sandi Duckworth upon the
occasion of her retirement after more than 20 years of distinguished
service to the Wyoming Central School District

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the students they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
educational leaders, whose dedication and achievements have been instru-
mental in developing character and academic excellence in the young
people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Superintendent Sandi Duckworth upon the occasion of her retirement after
more than 20 years of distinguished service to the Wyoming Central
School District; she will officially retire on June 30, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Since 1994, Sandi Duckworth has worked for the Wyoming
Central School District; she began her illustrious service as a special
education teacher before moving to the dual-role of principal and super-
intendent in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Education has always held a special place in Sandi
Duckworth's heart because of personal experience; she has a cousin with
both physical and mental disabilities; and
WHEREAS, After working with students with special needs for a decade,
Sandi Duckworth was appointed to her administrative position; and
WHEREAS, While serving as the principal and superintendent of the
Wyoming Central School District, Sandi Duckworth has shepherded the
district through many changes including the Common Core, a new teacher
evaluation system, and higher stakes testing; and
WHEREAS, Sandi Duckworth will be remembered for realigning job respon-
sibilities among teachers in the district, and using their certif-
ications to better meet student needs; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, and their two
children, as well as two grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as both an educator and administrator, Sandi
Duckworth served with loyalty, honor and distinction, earning the admi-
ration, esteem and affection of her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Educators like Sandi Duckworth provide a tremendous service
to the future of our State and Nation, inspiring generations of young
people in their educational journeys and ensuring their success in their
future years; and
WHEREAS, Sandi Duckworth has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of the Wyoming Central School District, as well as on the communi-
ty-at-large, and accordingly merits recognition and applause for her
impressive dedication to others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
public education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Superintendent Sandi Duckworth upon the occasion of her retirement
after more than 20 years of distinguished service to the Wyoming Central
School District, and for her significant contributions to education in
New York State; and to wish her continued success in all of her future
endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sandi Duckworth.
