LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Minister Natalia Quintavalle, Consul
General of Italy to New York, upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by Cellini Lodge No. 2206, Order Sons of Italy in
America
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to publicly recognize
those extraordinary individuals who have made the success and progress
of society of their life's work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Minister Natalia Quintavalle, Consul General of Italy to New York, upon
the occasion of her designation for special recognition by Cellini Lodge
No. 2206, Order Sons of Italy in America; she will be celebrated at its
46th Annual Scholarship/Charitable Benefit Dinner Dance on Friday, April
4, 2014, at the Chateau Briand, Westbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, Cellini Lodge No. 2206, Order Sons of Italy in America is one
of the largest lodges of OSIA in New York State; for 46 years it has
demonstrated its commitment to the New Hyde Park, New York, community,
promoting education, culture, and charitable giving; and
WHEREAS, Minister Natalia Quintavalle is being recognized by this
esteemed association for her outstanding collaborative efforts with the
Italian Cultural and Heritage Committee of New York, Inc., an organiza-
tion long supported by Cellini Lodge No. 2206; and
WHEREAS, Minister Natalia Quintavalle, Consul General of Italy to New
York since 2011, is the first woman to be appointed to this prestigious
post; she is responsible for the promotion of the economic and cultural
interests of Italy in New York State, as well as seeing to the social
and administrative needs of Italian citizens in the New York region; and
WHEREAS, Born in Pietrasanta, Italy, and educated at the University of
Pisa, Minister Natalia Quintavalle entered the Italian Diplomatic Corps
in 1986, and has had a distinguished diplomatic career of more than 25
years, notably working actively in defense of human rights; and
WHEREAS, Minister Natalia Quintavalle's previous service includes
serving as Consul of Italy in Toulouse, France, and First Secretary at
the Italian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; just prior to her position
as Consul General of Italy to New York, she worked as First Commercial
Counselor of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Minister Natalia Quintavalle has
displayed throughout her life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Minister Natalia Quintavalle, Consul General of Italy to New York,
upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by Cellini
Lodge No. 2206, Order Sons of Italy in America; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Minister Natalia Quintavalle.
