LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Theresa L. Ferro, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Theresa L. Kosicky Ferro of Binghamton, New York died on
January 3, 2014 at the age of 87, just one day shy of her 88th birthday;
and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known for her unselfish service to her family,
church, parish and community, Theresa L. Ferro was a life-long sports
fan both in the stands and on the field; she cheered for the Triplets,
known at the time as the Binghamton Mets, and played hockey at Bingham-
ton Central High, as well as golf and bowling; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Theresa L. Ferro was a member of a ladies soft-
ball team sponsored by GAF, the predecessor of Anitec and Ozalid, where
she worked in film production for 34 years; and
WHEREAS, Theresa L. Ferro distinguished herself in her profession and
by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the welfare of
her community; and
WHEREAS, An avid volunteer, Theresa L. Ferro served the First Ward
Action Council, the Boy Scouts, and the Community Hunger Outreach Ware-
house (CHOW); and
WHEREAS, Theresa L. Ferro's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, An active member of St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic
Church; Theresa L. Ferro ran the bingo kitchen, made food for funeral
breakfasts and luncheons, and was the star pitcher of the St. Cyril Slow
Pitch softball team until the age of 73; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her loving husband of 57 years, Anthony,
Theresa L. Ferro is survived by her daughter, Marie (Mason); her sons,
Marc, Thomas, Christopher, Richard, Daniel, John and Anthony; her
daughters-in-law, Mary, Tina, Maureen, Shannyn and Karen; 12 grandchil-
dren and one great-grandson; and her brother, Francis Kosicky; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Theresa L. Ferro leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all she served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Theresa L Ferro, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Theresa L. Ferro.
