LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Chief Deputy Richard Onorati upon the
occasion of his retirement after 24 years of distinguished service from
the Orange County Sheriff's Office
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Chief Deputy
Richard Onorati upon the occasion of his retirement after 24 years of
distinguished service from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, cele-
brated on February 28, 2014; he was honored with a special salute by his
fellow officers, as well as a retirement plaque from his captain; and
WHEREAS, Richard Onorati of Ridgebury, New York, graduated top of his
class from the Rockland County Police Academy in 1992; he is also a
graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy in
Quantico, Virginia; and
WHEREAS, For the past 24 years, Chief Deputy Richard Onorati has
rendered exceptional, conscientious service protecting the people of
Orange County; having risen through the ranks to lieutenant and Chief
Deputy, he has earned the esteem of his colleagues and the community he
has served during his long and distinguished career; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Danielle and their
three children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Richard Onorati has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Chief Deputy Richard Onorati upon the occasion of his retirement
from the Orange County Sheriff's Office; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Chief Deputy Richard Onorati.
