LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Philip Craig upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition by the Ambassador for Christ
International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday,
May 4, 2014
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Reverend
Philip Craig upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Ambassador For Christ International Outreach Ministry and
Gateway Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of
Distinction Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral
Terrace, Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Philip Craig is being recognized for his exemplary
work and commitment to his community, which serves to empower others;
and
WHEREAS, Reverend Philip Craig is an ordained Elder with The Greater
Allen AME Cathedral of New York, where he established the Dedicated and
Devoted Servants (D.A.D.S.) ministry, formerly known as the Allen Father
Support Ministry, has served in leadership roles in the "Kingdom Keep-
ers" Men's Ministry, as well as the Discipleship Ministry, and has also
served as Personal Community Liaison to the Honorable Rev. Dr. Floyd H.
Flake, Senior Pastor of the congregation; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Philip Craig was raised in Jamaica, Queens, New
York, where he resides with his wife and three children; he holds a
bachelor's degree in Organizational Management, master's degrees in
Business Administration and Divinity, and is currently a doctoral candi-
date at New York Theological Seminary; and
WHEREAS, Known as a dynamic preacher and skilled teacher and motiva-
tional speaker, Reverend Philip Craig has served as Senior Pastor at The
Greater Springfield Community Church in South East Queens, New York for
two years; under his luminous leadership, the church has transformed
from a failing ministry with only a handful of parishioners and no
programs, into a flourishing and growing congregation with a membership
of more than 100 parishioners, discipleship, communications, music,
youth and outreach ministries, and active programs; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Philip Craig upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Ambassador For Christ International Outreach
Ministry and Gateway Christian Center on Sunday, May 4, 2014, noting his
unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God,
humanity, and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Philip Craig.
