LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Patrick Butler upon the occa-
sion of his designation as recipient of the Sister Maureen Joyce Distin-
guished Service Award on April 22, 2014
WHEREAS, Spiritual guidance and nurturing are of great importance to the
vitality and well-being of all people and every community of this great
State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Instrumental in that deliverance are those men and women of
religious commitment who accept the responsibility of moral leadership
and render the wisdom of human understanding; and
WHEREAS, Singular in distinction is Reverend Patrick Butler, whose
service to his church and his people, and his involvement in his commu-
nity mirror a commitment of compelling dimension; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Reverend
Patrick Butler upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Sister Maureen Joyce Distinguished Service Award, to be celebrated at
the 2nd Annual Sister Maureen Joyce Center Dinner on Tuesday, April 22,
2014, at Wolferts Roost Country Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Sister Maureen Joyce Distinguished Service Award is given
annually to persons, organizations, and businesses that have demon-
strated commitment to the spirit of the Sister Maureen Joyce Center
through their outreach or advocacy on behalf of the poor and vulnerable;
and
WHEREAS, Ordained in 1982, Reverend Patrick Butler has served as
Pastor at St. Edward the Confessor in Clifton Park, New York for the
past seven years; and
WHEREAS, With a strong belief in gratitude and thanksgiving, Reverend
Patrick Butler has been instrumental in the addition of Mary's Corner to
the Sister Maureen Joyce Center; and
WHEREAS, Mary's Corner is an outreach program which provides support
for children within the community, ages newborn to three years, and the
adults who care for them; and
WHEREAS, Through generous donations by parishioners from St. Edward
the Confessor, the organization provides such items as baby clothing,
blankets, formula and diapers to those in need; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, under the luminous direction of Reverend Patrick
Butler, and true to the mission of the Sister Maureen Joyce Center, St.
Edward the Confessor has also been actively involved in the work of the
local Soup Kitchen; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Patrick Butler has brought to his ministry an over-
whelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention, it
is appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Patrick Butler upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Sister Maureen Joyce Distinguished Service Award,
noting his unremitting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service
to God, man, and his community, and extending to him the heartfelt best
wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and
well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Patrick Butler.
