LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Mary Ziegner upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service
as a member of the North Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ziegner has given not only of her time and energies but
also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is proud to commend Mary Ziegner upon
the occasion of her designation for special recognition after 50 years
of dedicated service as a member of the North Lindenhurst Fire Depart-
ment Ladies Auxiliary, to be celebrated at its 57th Annual Installation
Dinner on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at the Fox Hollow, Woodbury, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Historically, the ladies auxiliary of a volunteer fire compa-
ny has been organized to assist, support, and encourage the fire company
in its good work; it is the aim of the ladies auxiliary to cultivate a
spirit of harmony, to promote sociability and to sustain the esteem and
admiration of the community in which it serves; and
WHEREAS, The North Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary
carries out these important functions in an exemplary manner, providing
an invaluable service to the department and community; and
WHEREAS, Mary Ziegner joined the North Lindenhurst Volunteer Fire
Department Ladies Auxiliary in April of 1960, shortly after the Auxilia-
ry was established and was instrumental in the development of the
Department's by-laws; and
WHEREAS, The North Lindenhurst Fire Department members truly appreci-
ate the women of the Ladies Auxiliary, knowing they will always be there
providing food and refreshments, as well as emotional support, to them
on the scene of emergencies; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help others
and a tireless sense of community to volunteer selflessly, supporting
and assisting the firefighters in the provision of fire protection and
prevention; and
WHEREAS, For 50 years Mary Ziegner has willingly and enthusiastically
helped the Ladies Auxiliary carry out its accepted responsibilities and
has contributed extensively to the awareness and knowledge of her neigh-
bors and friends, and to the quality of their lives; and
WHEREAS, Through her long and sustained commitment to the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department and its Ladies Auxiliary, Mary Ziegner has
exhibited outstanding service and leadership in her beloved community
and has demonstrably advanced the perception of North Lindenhurst, New
York, as a caring and united community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Mary Ziegner upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition after 50 years of dedicated service as a member of the North
Lindenhurst Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mary Ziegner.
