LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Barbara J. Wheeler upon the occasion of
her retirement from the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Barbara J.
Wheeler upon the occasion of her retirement from the Roswell P. Flower
Memorial Library; and
WHEREAS, After sharing her talents with libraries in Alabama, Alaska,
Colorado, North Carolina and Wisconsin, Barbara J. Wheeler joined
Watertown's historic Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library a decade ago;
and
WHEREAS, Under her exemplary leadership, the library flourished,
expanding its programs, its teen section, educational offerings, classes
and more; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Barbara J. Wheeler was responsible for oversee-
ing the day-to-day operations as well as a number of renovation and
reconstruction projects at the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library; and
WHEREAS, As a result of Barbara J. Wheeler's efforts and dedication,
the Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library has continued to be known as a
center of learning and new opportunities where individuals and their
families can access books, music, movies, job-searching tools, unique
programs, and so much more; and
WHEREAS, With a passion for libraries, literature, education and serv-
ing others, Barbara J. Wheeler made a significant impact on the Roswell
P. Flower Memorial Library as well as the North Country community as a
whole; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, Barbara J. Wheeler was governed by a
keen sense of commitment and wisdom, earning the admiration, esteem and
affection of her colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Barbara J. Wheeler upon the occasion of her retirement from the
Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Barbara J. Wheeler.
