LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Myles Davis upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Lutheran HealthCare on May 17,
2014
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Myles Davis has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Myles Davis
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by Lutheran
HealthCare, to be celebrated at its 131st Annual Dinner Dance on Satur-
day, May 17, 2014, at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born and raised in Bay Ridge, New York, Myles Davis has been
called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Senior Vice President for Corporate Services at Lutheran
HealthCare, Myles Davis is currently in his 35th year of service to the
hospital and the communities it serves; and
WHEREAS, Among countless duties, in this capacity, Myles Davis is
responsible for the health system's planning, preparing and training
efforts for emergency and disaster response, both at the hospital and
within the community; and
WHEREAS, Myles Davis is highly respected for leading and completing
numerous projects including the total renovation of the hospital and
construction of the health care system's nursing home and senior housing
complexes; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, most recently, he was instrumental in major
modifications to the Lutheran campus including the construction of a new
surgical intensive care unit and the expansion of the emergency depart-
ment; and
WHEREAS, Active within his community, Myles Davis has worked with the
BRAVO Volunteer Ambulance Service in Bay Ridge for two decades, during
which time he served the organization as President, Chairman of the
Board of Directors, and as an Emergency Medical Technician; and
WHEREAS, Educated at Our Lady of Angels Elementary School, Bishop Ford
High School, St. Francis College and Wagner College, Myles Davis
returned to teach at Our Lady of Angels and Bishop Ford High School; in
2010 he was inducted into the Bishop Ford Hall of Fame and in 2013, he
was elected as Chairman of the Board for Bishop Ford High School; and
WHEREAS, Myles Davis has been the recipient of numerous awards and
accolades from such organizations and agencies as the N.Y.C. Council,
New York State Assembly and Senate, NYPD, FDNY, and the Office of the
Mayor; and
WHEREAS, In addition, he was appointed an Honorary Deputy Fire Commis-
sioner in recognition of his support and assistance to the members of
the Fire Department in 2001, and was named Man of the Year by the FDNY's
Holy Name Society in 2013; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Myles Davis has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his mother, Evelyn, his father,
Albert, his five siblings, Brian, Michael, Kevin, Nancy (Roffman) and
Edward, as well as his five nephews, Rob, Luke, Kyle, Ryan and Michael,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Myles Davis has displayed throughout
his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Myles Davis upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Lutheran HealthCare; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Myles Davis.
