LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Curley upon the occasion of his
designation as 2014 Champion for Children by Northern Rivers Family
Services
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Robert Curley has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Curley
upon the occasion of his designation as 2014 Champion for Children by
Northern Rivers Family Services; he will be celebrated on Tuesday, May
6, 2014, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Troy, New York; and
WHEREAS, Robert Curley is a highly respected business leader, banking
executive and community advocate; his generosity and kindness in giving
back to his community has been an inspiration to many; and
WHEREAS, As New York Chairman of Berkshire Bank, and throughout his
illustrious career in New York's Capital Region as President of KeyBank,
Charter One and Citizens Bank, Robert Curley has been committed to
supporting the growth and development of others; and
WHEREAS, Robert Curley has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, He is a member of the Board of Directors of Siena College,
and serves on the boards of New York Business Development Corporation,
Capitalize Albany, and the Center for Economic Growth as well; he has
also served as Chairman of Catholic Charities, the Doane Stuart School,
Coaches vs. Cancer, and the Sports Foundation; and
WHEREAS, Robert Curley has a demonstrated commitment to supporting
children and families; this compassionate man has volunteered actively
with several youth and family-oriented organizations, including Wildwood
Programs, Double H Ranch, Albany's Neighborhood Revitalization Commit-
tee, the Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, and the United Way; and
WHEREAS, He has been recognized for his contributions and leadership;
SUNY University at Albany presented him with its prestigious Citizen
Laureate Award and, in 2009, he was elected to the Tech Valley Business
Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Robert Curley has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Robert Curley has displayed through-
out his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Curley upon the occasion of his designation as 2014 Cham-
pion for Children by Northern Rivers Family Services; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Curley.
