LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Edward P. Ryan upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Third Age Achievement Award in Law
by Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Edward P. Ryan has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Edward P. Ryan
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Third Age
Achievement Award in Law by Senior Services of Albany, to be celebrated
at its 18th Annual Third Age Achievement Awards luncheon on Friday, May
2, 2014, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Attorney Edward P. Ryan is the head of the prestigious Law
Office of Edward P. Ryan, a firm that focuses on personal injury, social
security disability and business-related matters of law; and
WHEREAS, Prior to becoming an attorney, Edward P. Ryan proudly served
his country for 18 months on active duty as an officer in the United
States Army, and then worked as a Certified Public Accountant in New
York City, where he attended Fordham Law School on the G.I. Bill; while
a student at Fordham, this enterprising man was one of the founding
contributors to the Francis J. Muldreig National Scholars program,
created to enable talented law students without means to attend the
school; and
WHEREAS, Edward P. Ryan has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, A philanthropist, Edward P. Ryan has been a significant bene-
factor to his alma mater, Siena College, in Loudonville, New York; he
and his wife established a scholarship fund for graduates of the school
to attend Fordham Law School, and he has been a generous supporter of
Siena College's Summer Fellows Program as well; in addition, Edward P.
Ryan has helped to endow the college's Jurist in Residence Program; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Diane Deveiness Ryan,
as well as their son, Edward Jr., and their daughter, Romy, all of whom
feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achieve-
ments; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Edward P. Ryan has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Edward P. Ryan has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Edward P. Ryan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2014 Third Age Achievement Award in Law by Senior Services of
Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Edward P. Ryan.
