LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Eugene Nachamkin upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the 2014 Third Age Achievement Award in
Health and Human Services by Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Eugene Nachamkin has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Eugene Nacham-
kin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Third
Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by Senior Services of
Albany, to be celebrated at its 18th Annual Third Age Achievement Awards
luncheon on Friday, May 2, 2014, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Alba-
ny, New York; and
WHEREAS, Long Term Care industry consultant Eugene Nachamkin has
provided support and compassionate leadership to healthcare facilities
and agencies for more than 37 years; and
WHEREAS, Since beginning his career in 1972, Eugene Nachamkin has
dedicated his professional endeavors to the well-being and fair treat-
ment of individuals dealing with health related issues in New York
State's Capital Region; and
WHEREAS, An expert on Medicaid and Medicare, Eugene Nachamkin has
worked for the New York State Department of Health, the New York State
Office of the Welfare Inspector General, and has served as Director of
Fiscal Affairs of several healthcare facilities; in his current role as
a consultant, he has assisted nursing homes, long-term home healthcare
programs, day care programs, nursing agencies, and other providers; and
WHEREAS, Eugene Nachamkin has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Since 2004 he has been actively involved with the Epilepsy
Foundation of Northeastern New York, where he served as President of the
Board of Directors, and was a recipient of the Red Flame Award; he also
served as a Board Member for the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Dianna Keehler
Nachamkin, as well as their three daughters, Gina, Jessica, and Tiffany,
all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Eugene Nachamkin has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Eugene Nachamkin has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Eugene Nachamkin upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2014 Third Age Achievement Award in Health and Human Services by
Senior Services of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Eugene Nachamkin.
