LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson upon the
occasion of her designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commen-
dation Award on May 7, 2014
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding; this Legislative Body is moved to honor
those who preserve and protect such values, lauding particularly their
unwavering courage and dedication in the daily performance of their
duties; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Trooper Lind-
sey A. Stephenson, of Troop E in Bath, New York, upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award,
to be celebrated at the 38th Annual New York State Police Superinten-
dent's Commendation and Awards Day Ceremony on Friday, May 16, 2014, at
the New York State Police Academy, Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, A member of the New York State Police since April 23, 2012,
Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson will receive this prestigious award in
recognition of her outstanding police work; and
WHEREAS, On July 31, 2013, Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson was
dispatched to the Campers Haven Campground in the Town of Bath for a
report of an adult male drowning in the pond; upon arrival, Trooper
Stephenson, along with a fellow officer, dove to the bottom of the pond,
recovered the victim and brought him to shore where he was turned over
to awaiting EMS personnel; and
WHEREAS, Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson employed physically demanding
and decisive rescue measures which resulted in the successful rescue of
the imperiled victim; her astute actions represent the finest traditions
of the New York State Police; and
WHEREAS, In keeping with the finest traditions of the New York State
Police, Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson has distinguished herself by her
exemplary achievement and outstanding performance on behalf of the
community she so faithfully and courageously serves; and
WHEREAS, The dedicated efforts of public servants, such as Trooper
Lindsey A. Stephenson, who unselfishly devote their lives to the preser-
vation of and the protection of others are worthy of the full praise of
this Legislative Body and the people of the State of New York; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson upon the occasion of her designation
as recipient of the Superintendent's Commendation Award; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Trooper Lindsey A. Stephenson.
