LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Linda Carney upon the occasion of her
25th year of teaching at Augustinian Academy

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the efforts
of those individuals in the teaching profession who distinguish them-
selves in their dedication and commitment to their students; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Linda Carney upon the occasion of her 25th year of teaching at Augusti-
nian Academy in Carthage, New York; and
WHEREAS, Graduating in 1977 from the American School in Santa Domingo,
Dominican Republic, where her father was assigned as an Air Force offi-
cer, Linda Carney attended Pomona College, where she earned her bach-
elor's degree; and
WHEREAS, Following her graduation from college, Linda Carney spent two
years as a Peace Corps volunteer, where she developed a science curric-
ulum, taught various levels of the subject and managed a school library;
and
WHEREAS, After serving as a Peace Corps volunteer, Linda Carney worked
at Hofstra University and a nearby Catholic School as she studied to
complete requirements for her master's degree in education; and
WHEREAS, In 1986, Linda Carney and her husband, Matt, moved to Natural
Bridge, New York, where they raised their three children; and
WHEREAS, Linda Carney began her illustrious career at Augustinian
Academy 25 years ago, teaching fourth and fifth grades, assisting with
science projects and labs, and lending a helping hand to any student who
was in need of extra assistance; and
WHEREAS, With a passion for educating young people and giving them the
tools needed to succeed, Linda Carney has made a significant impact on
Augustinian Academy as well as the North Country community as a whole;
and
WHEREAS, The future success of our State and Nation is dependent upon
individuals such as Linda Carney, who dedicate their lives as educators,
nurturing our most precious resource, our youth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Linda Carney upon the occasion of her 25th year of teaching at
Augustinian Academy; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Linda Carney.
