LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Kara Snyder upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Les Couch Award on April 2, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Kara
Snyder upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Les
Couch Award on Wednesday, April 2, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The Greater Loudonville Association (GLA) presents this
auspicious award annually to a high school student residing in the Town
of Colonie, in memory of Les Couch, a founding member and longtime Pres-
ident of GLA who enjoyed promoting volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, A young woman of singular distinction, Kara Snyder has
distinguished herself as a young woman of superlative ability, estab-
lishing a high standard of excellence and purposefulness of life rarely
achieved in youthful years; and
WHEREAS, Kara Snyder, in achieving this high honor, may take just
pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excellence
she brings to her family, friends, community and school; and
WHEREAS, A senior at Colonie Central High School, Kara Snyder is a
phenomenal athlete, as well as an accomplished student as evidenced by
her induction into the National Honor Society; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, truly committed to ongoing acts of kindness,
Kara Snyder initiated a Pole Vaulters Against Cancer Meet which raised
significant funds for the fight against cancer; and
WHEREAS, With her sense of civic duty and her commitment to others,
Kara Snyder represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Mary and Thomas Snyder, Kara Snyder will
attend Villanova University in the fall and will compete on the school's
track and field team; and
WHEREAS, As Kara Snyder takes her leave of Colonie Central High
School, she bequeaths a legacy of academic achievement, school involve-
ment and community service to which others may aspire; and
WHEREAS, Kara Snyder stands poised on the threshold of a broad and
challenging world; a testament to the love and nurturing care of her
family, friends and school; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to honor Kara Snyder, a young
woman and able scholar, recognizing the value of her labors and the
promise of her future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Kara Snyder upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the Les Couch Award, to commend her for her outstanding academic
achievement and to extend to her the best wishes of this Legislative
Body for a future of purposeful success and well-being, fully confident
of her response to a promising future and appreciative of the model she
represents for all aspiring young people of the Empire State; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Kara Snyder.
