LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sergeant Stephen Cardello upon the occa-
sion of his retirement from the Port Washington Police District after
more than 32 years of distinguished service

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote them-
selves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in
providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities
and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sergeant
Stephen Cardello upon the occasion of his retirement from the Port Wash-
ington Police District after more than 32 years of distinguished
service, to be celebrated on Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Chateau Briand
in Carle Place, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Stephen Cardello began his laudable career as a
Police Officer with the Port Washington Police District on April 25,
1981; and
WHEREAS, This dedicated officer rose through the ranks steadily; he
earned the rank of Detective in August 1994, and served the Port Wash-
ington community ably for more than a decade before attaining his
current rank of Sergeant in September 2004; his last day of service was
January 31, 2014; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to extol such outstanding law enforcement
officers as Sergeant Stephen Cardello for their valued contributions to
the community; and
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those committed
public servants who unselfishly dedicate their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sergeant Stephen Cardello upon the occasion of his retirement from
the Port Washington Police District; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sergeant Stephen Cardello.
